EcoPivot has been selected for the highly competitive Open Climate Reporting Fellowship, an initiative aimed at strengthening cross-border climate reporting in West Africa.
The announcement was made by the Centre for Journalism Innovation and Development (CJID), in partnership with the British Centre for Investigative Journalism in London, after a rigorous selection process.
The 4-day fellowship workshop, set to take place in Lagos from September 9th to 12th, will bring together media professionals from Nigeria, Ghana, and the Gambia, equipping them with the tools and skills needed to enhance climate and environmental reporting across West Africa.
The fellowship aims to empower journalists to better hold governments accountable, raise public awareness, and promote sustainable environmental practices. For EcoPivot, the selection is a testament to its commitment to impactful storytelling on the climate crisis, with a particular focus on the human cost of inaction.
The workshop features some of the most distinguished climate and investigative journalism experts, such as Idris Akinbajo, Managing Editor at Premium Times; Hassan Taiwo, Climate Journalist at the Associate Press; Babatunde Akintunde, Director of Programs at CJID; Tobi Oluwatola, Executive Director at CJID; and Mojeed Alabi, Head of Development Desk at Premium Times.
